Needles

This is the roundabout in the village of Studley where I worked for 32 years.

The rather splendid display celebrates Studley's fame as the origin of the needle industry in this country.  The needle connection started in the 16th century when Huguenots brought their skills from France.

Sadly,  there is no needle making in Studley now since the main factory burned down a few weeks before I came to the area.  There have been smaller specialised surgical needle makers in the area more recently.

I had to travel to Studley by bus to pick up our motorhome which had its MOT today.
