Grieving Swans

Many of these swans have lost their mates. As swans mate for life, this is even more awful. In the last month, at least 40 swans have been poisoned at Chester-le-Street, on the River Wear. This was the second largest flock in County Durham. The vets who examined the swans found lead in their bodies which they think has been fed to them in powdered form in bread pellets. Why on earth would anyone want to do that? They are not even fish eaters so do not effect the fishermen. So sad.
