Mini Wasp
Vespula sp.
This wasp, helping itself to one of my scrumptious apples, is about half the size that wasps usually are. The dry summer greatly reduced the numbers of insects to be found in the garden, and I suspect it was the drought that reduced the size of many insects. The houseflies are very small, and some of the bumble bees are smaller than honeybees, even though they are the same species as the big ones.
