Confession

I love children's books.  If I could write, that's what I'd write.  Every time I visit my favorite independent bookstore (Village Books in Fairhaven) I can't resist going to the children's section.  It's usually the title (The Bear Ate Your Sandwich, Mr. Squirrel And The Moon, A Home For Bird, Pete and Pickles) that gets me, followed closely by the illustrations.  Both got me in the case of Brambly Hedge which is my newest acquisition.  It's absolutely charming, and  since I love mice and hedgerows.....well, how could I resist.

Long ago I gave up the pretense of trying to convince a bookseller that the book I was buying was for my granddaughter, especially since I don't have one..  Now I just say that it's for me.  I'm no longer surprised when they remark how much they love them too and I'm absolutely no longer surprised when they say that they buy them for themselves too.
