I Love Lisbon

Another wonderful day in Lisbon - I DO love this city - so full of beauty, yet so unassuming.

This is one of the three arcades surrounding the Praça do Comércio - what would have been the first view of the city in the days when folk arrived by ship. Rebuilt after the 1775 earthquake - a defiant "we will not be beaten" symbol of their determination to rebuild what had been destroyed.

More good coffee, icy beers, gentle police, bright sunshine, sea breezes, unctuous desserts, excellent wine, kind shop assistants, jokey bartenders... would I like to live here... what do you think??

(Btw, if my husband has African blood, it was a long way back!)
