Laura died on Saturday. The news arrived by email in the early hours today.
I was awake, and stayed that way the remainder of the night.

Yesterday I had been sorting through some old photos for an entirely different purpose, when I came across a bunch of pictures from a trip we made together around India in 1991 - this is a detail of one of them.

Laura was open. She was interested. She was kind. She was good to have as a friend. And, more than most I know, she was happy.

She had found her ideal place in New Zealand with Ade.
