Reunion
This morning we took a walk up to the Melbourne Docklands/Harbour. It’s an up-and-coming area of the city with lots of development in progress and lots more planned. There are already a number of apartments, shops, cafes and bars. The area is also home to the Melbourne Star.
The Melbourne Star is an observation wheel. There are just three of these in the world. The other two are the ‘London Eye’ and the ‘Singapore Flyer’. Just one more to go then!!
The views from the top were amazing. We could see all the way across the harbour and out to sea in one direction and the majestic city skyscrapers in the other.
After lunch we went to meet my two cousins Joan and Ivor. They are the children of my Dad’s sister and moved to Melbourne with their parents when they were young. I haven’t seen Joan for over twenty years and Ivor for over forty!! We lost touch a few years ago but thanks to Facebook we recently found each other again. They are my only relatives outside my immediate family so it was a very special reunion. It won’t be quite so long before we meet up again next time.
