Oxford Squelch
Mr. Jeanettie6 was going to Oxford today to pick up most of Daniel's stuff to bring home for the Easter break, before Daniel returns home on Tuesday. I joined him on the journey up there, but thought I'd stay there for the rest of the afternoon and get the bus back, rather than travel straight back home. I saw Daniel for a short while, before he had to work, then I set off for a walk.
I walked over towards Christ Church meadows, down Rose Lane and was thought I saw a small dog, escaping from the meadows tearing up the Lane, towards to the very busy High Street. As it ran past, I realised it wasn't a dog, it was a tiny muntjac deer! I didn't hear any screeching brakes when it reached the High Street, so I really hope it was ok. I then walked by the winding river, hoping to see the cows (where were they? Cheekily hiding from me I think). Suddenly the wind picked up and I was caught in a torrential downpour. Far too windy for my umbrella and there was nowhere to shelter. I got absolutely drenched...right through to my bloomers. I even thought about going back into town to buy some new jeans and underwear, I was so wet, but couldn't be bothered with that, so decided to carry on walking and hopefully dry off. I crossed over the river and walked to Iffley Lock and back and by this time I was almost dry (chilly legs though!), so fortunately was allowed on the bus for my journey home and wasn't made to sit in the luggage compartment under the bus.
I didn't get home until nearly 9.00 though...a bit later than intended. Just in time to watch Poldark then straight to bed, I was toadally zorsted!
