Washington Tulips
I was hoping to convince H to drive through Skagit county on our way home from Canada to Seattle today to see all the fabulous tulip fields that I so love in view, but it’s sunday and we knew there would be a lot of traffic for this festival. Connections (I've linked to her description of the gallery.)..)suggested a plan that H liked better —go Chuckanut drive to the tiny town of Edison to see an art exhibition that she recommended there —so we did that - it was good —Smith and Vallee specializes in fine woodworking, and Connections wrote about it much better than I can...but there were some embroidery pieces by an artist I collected 30 years ago in Seattle. It turns out Ries Niemi lives near there so we drove by his house to see the giant steel mesh purse in his yard. Then we had a good lunch at the Rhody Cafe nearby,
But we were so close to the tulips that I convinced H we could drive by 2 fields on the outside edge —so that is what I got —2 fields and about 10 minutes… It’s still quite a sight even tho it was a very dull day -but not raining at this point, so I have to blip this hard earned view., such as it is.....
:-)
A few more tulips., including Ries Niemi's mesh purse....
flickr set from the island last week.
