A Long Day
SWMBO and I had to be up at the crack of dawn to get down to Peebles for 8.15am so we could exchange a car seat for money and then hand in the car for a service.
The weather was not great and half way there I realised I had forgotten my camera ....... unheard of and not boding well for the wedding reception in the evening.
However, I had booked a test drive in a car I like the look of and the garage were quite willing to let me take it for half the day and made sure I wouldn't half to top it up.
So home we headed to collect the camera ....... and back down to Peebles again.
I wasn't convinced that the car was only a 1.6lt and at one point I stopped and had a look on the back and under the bonnet ....... no clues.
When we handed the keys back I asked and was informed that Yes, indeed it was only a 1.6 diesel. It has a damned sight more poke than I expected.
We were too early to book in to the hotel where we staying so went for an amble down to The Loch Of The Lowes.
At one point I looked in the mirror and saw the hills painted pretty colours.
Back at the hotel we ordered High Tea.
40 minutes later it was unceremoniously dumped on the table without any explanation as to what the different cakes were ........ or enough cream to be even close to generous for the scones, let alone to go with the dry meringues !
Not good for a 'quality' hotel.
We went by taxi to the wedding doo (which strangely turned out to be a different price to the journey back).
It was good to do some catching up with the bride, her parents and sister who we hadn't seen for three or four years - although it was as if we see them every other week (we have known them for about 40 years .... frightening).
The blip is a bowl of hearts (made from strips of sheet music) which was the decoration on our table.
The bride and groom as they left were serenaded by half of women guests which was a nice touch .......... they are all members of a very good choir.
Which is why sheet music was used to make the hearts.
