Rainy day baking

It was wet, windy and miserable today.  We debated going swimming, but Ella was not playing ball with getting dressed, teeth brushing etc so we decided to take the pressure off ourselves and have a lazy day.  The though of having to get her changed and unchanged at a very busy pool was a bit too much! 
Ella and I baked some fairy cakes, which she really enjoyed.  It wasn't too messy, but the mess-potential gave me palpitations.  Not sure we'll be cooking together again anytime soon.  Ella is becoming a very good 'leader' (read: bossy) and was showing this too good effect whist baking...'no my turn, mummy' and 'stop mummy, stop' was said quite a lot!
Everything has been a bit of a challenge and confrontation this weekend - from nappy changes and getting dressed to stopping her running around in car parks!  It's exhausting, but I know it's just Ella trying to work out her independence and where the boundaries are.  'This too shall pass'.....
