March seems to be going out like a lion, with gale-force winds and periods of torrential rain. But at least now we have light evenings - we just need some sunshine and warmth to be able to enjoy them.
I don't seem to have done very much today, though Pete and I did brave the weather to visit a couple of garden centres, to buy some plants to brighten up Gemma's grave. It's looking very pretty now, with Anemone blanda, Cyclamen coum, Primula denticulata, a very dark-leaved variety of Ajuga reptans, a deep pink-flowered Arabis and a golden-leaved Lamium. We also planted a Lavatera and a Verbena for structure and summer colour.
While we were out in the garden two long-tailed tits kept visiting the suet-cake - taking turns with a pair of blue tits. I hope they'll all breed nearby. The long-tailed tits are quite bold and I was able to take this while standing on the patio, only about three metres away.
