The third of my famous-grave blips, this is the grave of Henry David Thoreau, an American writer and philosopher who espoused simplicity as a way of life. I love that his grave marker is so, well, simple. Thoreau is also known for his ideas on civil disobedience or nonviolent resistance. I found the little plastic peace sign someone left at his grave to be an interesting touch.

His grave is one of several at the Thoreau family plot. Here is a photo to give it a little more perspective.
