Iron age fort- Park of Keir
Brisk walk on Park of Keir. This circular wall is the site of an Iron Age fort going back some 2,000 years to the time when the Romans lived in this part of the world.
The original structure would have been made of wood and in its present form with a circular wall would have been added during the Victorian era when it was enhanced to become part of the Park of Keir designed landscape.
This is now under threat by Judy Murray’s proposed tennis centre financed by housing, a multi-million pound development on this sensitive landscape which acts as a buffer between Dunblane and Bridge of Allan as well as being of significant historic and environmental importance.
Today it forms part of our Greenbelt and nearly 800 local people have written in to Stirling Council with their objections.
