El Ejido Choir - Where's Al?
After weeks of intense practice, the evening of the Concert finally arrived. The Choristers were off early to practice and have a photo shoot, we groupies were left to fend for ourselves, so off to the bar for a drink and tapa before the concert!
First on stage was the Coral Alminares from Nerja, whom we visited in November last year. They performed five pieces, including Pie Jesu performed by their Soprano and Tenor soloists, ending in Requiem by Mozart. The soloists were very good.
Next up was Coral Lola Callejon from El Ejido who started off with Camino del Indio which was accompanied by a bongo drum, which lightened the tone for the rest of the evening!
When the El Ejido had completed their five pieces, the Nerja choir joined them on stage and together gave an excellent rendition of the Hallelujah chorus from The Messiah.
An excellent evenings' entertainment. Of course, there was the usual meal and drinks afterwards for 120 people, too much food and plenty to drink. The venue was the Cultural Centre and downstairs there was a live band and dancing which rounded the evening off nicely.
Needless to say, knees and hips are a little painful today!!
A great night was had by all.
