Time to change time ...
When I was young, living in Glasgow, I used to hate the time when the clocks went forward and left us staring at bleak, chilly early evenings that before had been decently hidden by darkness. Living in a less urban environment, however, has changed that; now I resent the curtailment of my day that the darkness brings, and revel in the lengthening of the light until that magic time in June when the sky never grows completely dark and the sunset segues into the dawn.
But that's a pleasure I can wait for ...
The clock, by the way, has seen time pass since way before daylight saving was thought of: it dates from around 1800 and its chimes marked my childhood hours just as they do now.
