A splash of colour
Such a beautiful spring day, and I've been lucky enough to spend it out with the South Lincolnshire Flora Group, recording West Deeping village. We had an excellent turn out for the first field trip of the season, punctuated by a superb pub lunch in the Red Lion. The afternoon ended with a cup of tea at the home of one of the members, who lives in the village. Not only did we have great fun, we recorded around 180 species of plant, just under 50 of which had never been previously recorded from the village . And a few are new to South Lincolnshire too!
I was travelling light, so hadn't taken the serious camera. When I arrived back I had a walk round the garden. Our next-door neighbour cut down a lot of trees and bushes in the winter, the only advantage being that we can now see this wonderful magnolia, two doors down. Such shapely deep pink blooms!
