Journey Through Time

NOT MY BACKYARD

Let me make this perfectly clear....this is NOT my backyard. Would that it were. No, this belongs to the people who have this lovely yard/garden that we see on our walks. I have blipped her flowers many times. The lady who treasures this yard and does a lot of the work was outside and we said hello. She enlisted the aid of Bill in helping her put a wire cage around her peony as it needed some help in staying upright. I took some photos of her yard and her flowers. She showed us her back yard and all her hostas and shade plantings. Oh, she has the prettiest flower beds.

Bill is fussing around in our back yard, weeding and such. I have the flank steak in the fridge marinating in soy sauce/sugar and I will be making this potato salad that is made with fresh dill. Oh my, my mouth waters just thinking of it. It's a good salad and I like it because this recipe doesn't call for hard boiled eggs. It's a good alternative potato salad for those who don't go that route. Like me.

We watched War Horse last night. I was especially looking forward to it mostly because of the cinematography. That would have been gorgeous on the big screen, but it came out well on our TV. Very lush English landscapes. Just beautifully photographed. The story is sort of a war torn Black Beauty, although not gone from the original owner that long. I must be getting callous, as I didn't cry. Sometimes I am looking at the "film making" and not the story line and that protects me from the tears. As in, gosh, how did they DO that? Wow, what good horse actors. What good trainers they must have had. How did they film that barbed wire scene? Then..see...I don't cry because I'm too curious as to how Steven Spielberg pulled THAT off. LOL

After all the tears I have given to such moves as Old Yeller, The Yearling, Bambi, Born Free, The Lyon King, Meerkat Manor on Animal Planet, and other sad animal movies, I protect myself now. All that crying gives me a headache!

Hope you are having a great day. Enjoy the bar-b-cues, those that are doing that!

See ya later, Blippers
