Derelict Carriden old parish church

Here is a blip (looking up to the top of the church tower) of the derelict Carriden old parish church. The church, now in ruins, was erected in Cuffabouts village in 1766, with its tower, spire and session house being added in 1840, but by the early 1900s it was considered too small and a new church was built in adjoining ground to the north of the churchyard.

Dr John Roebuck (1718–1794), who is buried in the churchyard, was an English inventor and industrialist who played an important role in the Industrial Revolution and who is known for developing the industrial-scale manufacture of sulphuric acid.
