Travels Through A Lens

Multicultural Fun in the Sun

I was in Bradford for a meeting at lunch time and I took the opportunity of taking some photos at the new Centenary Square which is a big expanse in the City centre with water fountains that create 'paddling' areas. In the sun and warmth it is drawing in lots of people and I was amazed at the multicultural diversity enjoying the coolness of water, young and not so young.

I have broken my rule of not photographing someone unless I have asked them but this picture, for me, tells the story so well of what I saw and I wanted others to see it too.

It is technically not very good, but I like the person stepping from the water, with everyone else in the background and also the ongoing story of the old Odeon Cinema I blipped a while ago here which is covered up in the background. I've googled it and it's not clear what is happening with it. It seems a developer has drawn up plans to turn it into a performing arts centre but the owners want to demolish it.

The debate has been going on for years and perhaps something will happen soon-ish!
