End of an era

I'm probably going to get into loads of trouble with my colleagues for posting this, as model release forms have not been obtained... However it's a big moment in the history of the museum...  For many years now we've had buildings all over the city that have been housing museum collections that aren't on public display. Gradually in the last decade we've been building new custom designed stores at our collections centre to bring all the objects together.  This is the last of our non-museum sites that have been emptied and moved to the collections centre.  Months of work, documenting, listing, packing and moving thousands if not millions of objects and finds.  Big things, small things, fragile things, precious things, irreplaceable things, objects with many parts, items with wonderful stories, all being moved across the city to be centralised with other collections. This will make them easier to look after, more accessible and in better conditions for years to come. If ever a team deserved a very large celebratory drink it's  these guys...

just another example of the changing times ...
