Commissioned

We are preparing our spare room for a lodger who will be here for two months from next week. We won't be here much of that time so when a very good friend of ours said one of her own very good friends was looking for a place to stay while she did a stint at the National Theatre here in Barcelona we decided to say yes. Pays for some flights!

The painting you see was commissioned by us from an American artist living in Budapest. We have many of his pieces around the house but this was the first commission. The brief was to paint us as he saw us. It was a time of some upheaval in our lives with a looming move to Africa and the serious illness of Dd's father just discovered. Maybe it's not to everyone's taste but it is quite striking and just the thing needed to lift this room.
