Fred & Andy

A roundabout dedicated to the durian fruit

We have a large, late breakfast then get on our minibus to Kampot after phoning the Indian Embassy yet again.  Yes, we are back on that and no Fred's visa still hasn't been processed .... ridiculous!!  We're starting to make plans where else we can go for our last three months now but are both gutted.

On arrival in Kampot we are greated by this roundabout dedicated to the controversial durian fruit.  The durian is regarded as the king of fruits in many southeast asian countries but, because of its strong odour, it has been banned from many hotels and on public transport.  Andy has tried it before but Fred still has that delight to come.  He can't really remember what it tastes like but we both smelt some the other day ... Andy thought shit, Fred thought vomit.  Can't wait to try some!

Kampot is a cute little town on the Kampong Bay River which has a large ex pat community (or Pot Pats as they call themselves).  They produce a free magazine called the Kampot Survival Guide which is written in a fun, tongue in cheek kind of way.  We spend the afternoon exploring on foot and eat pizza cooked by an Italian at a small road side restaurant.
