it’s not even 7 O’Clock yet

"You’ve missed three blips”.  We’re sitting in a cafe at Sydney Railway Station; “and it’s not even 7 O’Clock yet.”

The three non-blips;

Man sleeping on platform under a Thomas the Tank blanket, complaining about the noise.

Four lads, standing in a circle in the middle of the station concourse, brushing their teeth.

And Anniemay’s favourite - back view of an over-weight young woman with very tight black jeans; embroidered in pink on the left back pocket, Pasta and on the right back pocket, Pies.

Not only is it not yet 7.00, it’s still dark outside. We have an early start because I overestimate the time needed to get here.  Although the train for Melbourne leaves at 7.30, we need to check-in our baggage by 7.00. (Note - check-in baggage on train).  I allow an hour to get from the YHA to the station, which means Anniemay is in the shower at 5.00, for a sharp exit by 6.00.

This is the bit I hadn’t accounted for; that there would be a 24 hour taxi rank outside the hostel. I can’t imagine any YHAs having a taxi rank close by.  So we’re at the station within 15’.

We check our baggage in early (we’re not the only ones) and then grab a coffee and wait.  Anniemay’s timely reminder prompts me to blip the station clock.
