Anderson Bridge

The bride and groom here are taking advantage of the fact that the bridge was traffic free for once. The roads leading to and away from it are closed to traffic to accommodate the crowds attending Mr Lee Kuan Yew's lying in state. The queue time has been about 8 hours, but those in the queue have said it is nothing compared to the lifetime Mr Lee gave to Singapore.

There was a hush, a quietness, a reflective spirit in the people in the queue. The best side of people has been on display - food, drinks, umbrellas, free flowers have been offered by volunteers to those in the queue.

The funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon at the University Cultural Centre, attended by heads of state and government from all over the world.  The country will probably come to a virtual standstill from 12 noon, just before the funeral procession is scheduled to start. It'll be a fitting tribute to a man who always placed this, his country, at the centre of everything he did in his life. We will never see another like him.

A few other photos from this morning here.
