Far from home
To Essex and back after work, as the guest speaker for the Alpine Garden Society local group. My hosts for the evening fed me a lovely meal in advance to ensure I was nice and sleepy alert. All went very well and it was good to catch up with a few old friends in the audience.
This Asiatic Primula was growing in the Chelmsford garden where I was entertained beforehand. Needing cool and moist growing conditions it is a difficult plant to keep alive in the south of the UK, so far from it's native habitat. For Scottish blippers there is much more hope of success, I have seen it growing 'wild' in a famous garden at Cluny many years ago.
