So that "Day off"?

I got up early full of the joys of a day off, to strip beds, clean rooms and head to parent's abode. Standing making breakfast when it all started to go to pot.

Bed linen in washer and text to Ally, " Is Mum off today and tomorrow?"

I phoned.......  no answer.

Text reply, " Can't speak right now".

Text back , " What's up G?

Reply," In hospital".

Well that was my day off.

He's ok btw, but Oh my grey hair!

What is it that they don't understand? It's supposed to be the first 20 years that are the worst!
