Wound up in Wexford

Guard hut

The railings and odd little building across the road from us are the remnants of an original radar installation.

The railings are quite ugly, but given their history, I wouldn't want to see them torn down.  In fact, I am quite sad that the current owners of the house behind the railings have seen fit to attach a rather out of place house name.

The little building was the guard house, and now houses a small photographic record.

The whole area was one of the Chain Home RDF installations.

The tower which is at the back of our house, and which has featured in previous blips, was one of four metal ones.  These railings are on the opposite side of the road that passes our house, and on this site there would have been four wooden towers.  The fifth picture down gives an idea.  The aerial view on which the towers are superimposed is by no means modern - we live in the back part of the white house on the right hand side of the road, and it has undergone several alterations since this photo was taken.
