Diary of an Edinburgher

The first cuckoo?

I spotted a discarded Christmas tree today. Is this the latest? This is bit like spotting the earliest cuckoo... But kind of depressing.

I took a fancy to pop and see a film today, not having been for quite some time, as it seemed that every film I went to was disappointing in some way...

I saw 'Suite Française' which is based on two novels written by a French Jewish woman who died in Auchwitz. I quite enjoyed it, as I love the fashions and wartime stories. I wouldn't rave about it, but it was watchable. I only looked at my watch a couple of times. And, it should be said, I did not have a big bag of Maltesers. Not even a small bag! I am trying hard with my diet - not snacking between meals - but the weight is just not budging. I think it's the pills I'm on...

I popped to the cafe for some soup.

Walked in...

Hang on! No tables. No chairs. No food. Took me a moment or two to realise it was a cafe no more...

It's now a 'Games Centre'!! Lots of high benches, and millions of tiny wee Hobbit type toy people. Apparently the cafe closed about a year ago. I still have a loyalty card with a free coffee almost due. Mind you, if everyone was as 'loyal' as me - no wonder they went bust!

Archie likes to find a wee warm spot to sit in. When I don't see him for a while, and go looking for him, sometimes he's not actually up to mischief, but is just minding his own business in the sun...

But most times he's up to no good.
