A Lancaster visit.
We went to Lancaster today to visit my stepson and three of the grandchildren and met at Williamsons park. I had made a picnic as it has been a lovely day again.
The Ashton Memorial which is in the park was commissioned by Lord Ashton as a tribute to his late wife. Born in Lancaster, Lord Ashton became a millionaire producing oil cloth and linoleum, which was exported from the port all over the world. It gives a reminder of the importance of Lancaster as a thriving commercial centre, not only in times past, but now in the 21st Century.
Ted wanted his picture taken with it in the background.
