An Artist's Life

East Foothills

There's a marked difference between the 2 sides of the Bitterroot Valley. The west side, the Bitterroot Mtns side, is all jaggedy and sharp angles, while the east side, the Sapphires, are softer rolling foothills up to gentler mountains. The west side is softer sandstone with sculpted pinnacles and the east side is granite. These tectonic plates still move on occasion which makes Montana second only to California for earthquakes. Fortunately, we don't have the population to freak out every time the earth moves.
