Ride on the beach

Very busy day, starting with meeting the contractors and builders at 7 45.

The foreman sent me a text last night at 10pm telling us to be at the house by 8am. Not a lot of notice I thought, esp for two oldies, but of course we set the alarm and we were there. Before him as it happens. Because when they say jump you jump! They have suddenly decided they better get moving, so it's all go. Good to see progress, and we know how lucky we are to be getting a repair rather than being paid out in cash. Especially since if we'd taken a cash settlement we'd now be at least $100,000 short of what it's actually cost - I can see why the insurance companies are so keen on the cash pay out! And I feel really sorry for the people being forced to take a payout. I hope they have good legal advice, an excellent valuer and quantity surveyor and the strength for the battle after 5 years. I don't know that we could have done it. Except there's really no choice.

Had a walk on the beach, full tide and lovely and refreshing. This horse was not keen on the water/waves and he was trying to make it gallop straight and it was trying to get up higher on the beach.
