Swamphen

The Swamphen finally came out of her secret reed home and I witnessed it! She really is very colourful & very like a Morhen in 'design' she wasn't out for long, but is was enough to catch her glorious turquoise feathers and her huge pink feet, before she slipped back into the reeds. I have photographed her before, but only catching her red beak and a little of her plumage, so this time a better result. Apparently these birds are a lot more prolific in their native New Zealand. Here they are few in numbers & totally secretive!
