New Window

I thought this would be easy.....

I've watched quite a few windows being replaced and it's really quite straight forward. Pop out a few guide rails, remove top and bottom glass frame, stuff in new window.

And that's exactly what didn't happen. The guide rails did not pop out - instead the whole frame popped out. That was not good as it left a huge gap in the wall! Much larger than the window we had bought for it!

So a few 2x4s had been left over from the cottage build last year, so trimmed out the sides to make the new window fit.

Big improvement, but closer to the time we'll remove this window and get in a much bigger window for the original size hole.

I was told this evening that if a 1930s window was a complete frame that it was a premium product (in it's day).
