Old Warden Abbey

Tonight's blip is a picture of a picture. I lived near this fine old abbey for many many years. A long time ago when selecting some produce in a local farm shop I saw some lovely pencil drawings on the wall. 
I told a very bold step, contacted the local artist (L.Simpson) and commissioned one of the abbey. Cost me a weeks wages at the time but is unique and has given me a lot of pleasure over the years.
It's owned by the landmark trust now and used for holiday accommodation. More on their website here:

About the property
Warden Abbey is the last fragment of a once great abbey, now stranded in quiet fields. Its splendid first floor room was surely a place where abbots once held court. The field around the building, now grazed, is an important and only partially explored archaeological site, its lumps and bumps speaking of past Cistercian wealth.
