Hands Across The Water - Humanity Strength

The Battle of Iwo Jima resulted in about 27,000 Japanese and American casualties. That was 70 years ago, last week.
In 1990, Japan donated a multitude of cherry blossom trees to Portland that line the waterfront. You can see one branch in the blip above. And although about a week past their glory, here is a group blip of some of the trees, taken a few minutes later. A Japanese American Historical Plaza supports the scenery.
For full impact, marking the twenty fifth anniversary of the donation, here are some media blips.

Oh yeh, the Burnside Bridge got in the background.
A stones throw from the Burnside is the Morrison Bridge, which figures prominently in the opening to the comedic Portlandia series, in the same open type pose as above.

Almost forgot. Thank you all for joining in the cemetery challenge. I look forward to reviving it in the next northern hemisphere spring, maybe a little later, when spring is in full bloom! Cheers!

And cheers for Chantler63 for viewing all these monos. What strength!
