Catch up morning then shortlisting before down to talk to JA about our exciting new plans. Whilst everyone is always really enthusiastic about it (and it would be difficult if they weren't!) this excitement from so many people makes it a huge beast to try and wrestle to the ground and write a business case for!
Off to a lecture on Muriel Spark's visit to Jerusalem in 1961. On the way there I caught this view of the Scott monument framed by cranes...so lovely to have it so light in the evenings now. It was interesting stuff....the novel that came out of her visit (The Mandelbaum Gate) took her nearly three years to write because of her complex and conflicted feelings, quite a contrast to her apparently having written, edited and published the Prime of Miss Jean Brodie in the space of a month!
Home and a mountain of stuff to catch up on....
