Red Spotty Letter Day
wasn't expecting too much from the stretch of coast along from Ladram Bay today. It doesn't have that much of a reputation for fishing and March is often a bit of a rubbish time of year to be on the water.
So when a herring and a tiny mackerel hung themselves on the end of the line I thought I was doing well, even though the plaice rod hadn't shown even a hint of fishy interest.
Then something changed and the plaice just kept on coming. Final tally was eight, four of which went back (including this little chappie). The biggest was probably over 2lb.
I could have stayed on and probably caught some more but there was more than enough for dinner and the sea was getting a bit lumpy.
Not bad at all...
