Gluck auf forever

The Cornelius Square in Heerlen gives a very different cityscape. Old, new and art are here close together.

The glass house is a restaurant, cafe and library.

The church is the St Corneliuschurch. In 1834 the inhabitants of the village Heerlerheide requested a parish church.

In 1838-1839 there was a neoclassical church built to a design by architect Lambert Jaminé. In May 1839 after a Cornelius Image was bought and two relics were obtained, the church was later that year a pilgrimage.
In 2012 a man on a bike stool 40 kg of lead from the churchroof.

The large mosaic shows a collage of images that refer to the past of the coalmine culture of Limburg. It is made of tousands of little mosaic stones.
