Old Roadside Cottage

It’s sad to say that are plenty of old crofts like this throughout Orkney.  However years ago when this croft was o0ccupied Kirkwall was nowhere near the size it is now.  As around the globe, folk are gradually drifting into the toons. 

The day started off well, however now the Met office has become involved and the wind is rising with sleet forecast for later.  CMC has gone to see her mother in Hoy and I have been cleaning out the water tanks at the back of the sheeps’ hoose, rebuilding the dyke that collapsed in December, and staining some wood for the weatherboard repairs.  And I have to have to tea ready for 6.15 pm.  It’s all go.  Even Baz is keeping a low profile.
