Family Concert

Stevenage Symphonic Orchestra put on a family concert today. The theme was space which links in nicely with British Science week which unfortunately had passed me by. Music included themes from ET, Dr. Who and Star Trek which made the geek in me happy. The kids were happy as the 'planet' the orchestra chose to play was Jupiter (their house at school). The musicians were dressed up as all sorts, international rescue, Princess Leya, young Obi Wan Kenobe, a Darlek and there were a good number of fez's on show. Where there would normally be a soloist a man talked to the kids about the planets. Will was Jupiter and Carys was Saturn and they made a pop rocket in the interval.

Both of them loved it. I love their individual takes on the afternoon. Will spent the afternoon trying and failing to decide if there was an instrument he liked more than the violin. Carys was more interested in which piece she could dance to best!

Oh yes Will is wearing the (space) pirate outfit because if the kids came dressed up they got In free with a paying adult. Thankfully they didn't mind him being off kilter with the theme!
