Tea for two

Today we left the region of Karnataka and travelled through the Western Ghats, up 32 hair bends to 6,500 feet and are now in the Nilgiri mountains in Tamil Naidu. This is a tea growing area and considerably cooler than we have been used to.

The hotel we are staying in is situated in the hill station of Coonoor and is an old colonial building, in fact the whole area rather smacks of the old 'Raj'. When we arrived an Indian wedding was just finishing, the ladies looked lovely in their beautiful coloured saris.
