FLOWERS FOR BECKY

Got the bus from Hounslow to Becky and Mikes and arrived around10am.  Before we left to go out for the day this wonderful bouquet of flowers arrived from Becky's work colleagues.

Mike had the day off work so we headed for Richmond Park in the car.  We had a long walk around looking for some deer.  We enjoyed the WALK but it was freezing cold and  we had no luck spotting any deer. .  However as we drove out of the park we saw some - couldn't stop the car though as there were no parking spots.  So no photos - but at least we saw them in the end.

We drove to Twickenham and had lunch in the Wetherspoons which was very appropriately named The William Webb Ellis. He was the inventor of rugby and Twickenham is the home of English rugby.  There were lots of English and French flags flying around the town in preparation for the match on Saturday.

After lunch we had a mooch around Twickenham and crossed over a footbridge to take a look at Eel Pie Island. Its a privately owned island which has about 50 houses, a couple of boatyards and some small businesses and artists' studios. Its a very quirky place.  Saw THIS HOUSE and these COLOURFUL TILED STEPS.

Later on we went to a coffee shop where I had coffee and brownie.  The brownie was so yummy.  A real treat as I don't often go off my Slimming World plan.

Back to Becky and Mike's - Mike made spaghetti bolognese.  Delicious.

Later on we drove to Richmond to The White Horse pub.  It was pub quiz night.  Becky and Mike have recently started doing pub quizzes.  They have been a few times to a pub in Isleworth and been once before to this pub in Richmond.  There were six teams entered I think.  The first round was the taster round.  A lovely SELECTION OF CHEESES to taste and identify.  Together with crackers and grapes.  After guessing the names of the cheeses you are allowed to eat what's left.  Mike and I did the tasting as Becky is doing something called the Paleo Diet for 30 days.  No carbs, grains, dairy or sugar . The following rounds in the quiz were more brain taxing - general knowledge, music, picture round etc.  When the points were totted up WE were announced as winners. We got rosettes to wear.  One final round to decide what prizes we took home.  Picking lucky dip symbols on a board.  In the end we won a box of chocs, some fake bubbly and £5.  We also won a bottle of wine for one of the other teams. This was the first time I had done a pub quiz and I enjoyed it.  Not that I contributed much to the answers - Becky and Mike were great on their own.
