Oh what a night

& I didn't even get paid for that all-nighter. Aeroplanes. Transit lounges. Departure terminals. Not luxurious, but it is a luxury.

This airport in the wee hours is as bustling as most places. Kota Kinabalu was a 5hr layover. A bit of Internet. A bit of sleep. A bit of a walk.

Last leg into Sandakan - I fell asleep before they told me to put my seatbelt on & woke on the bumpy runway landing. Felt like it needed resurfacing.

Quick bag pickup. Taxi coupon & hit the 8am morning traffic. But it's Saturday, so there wasn't any!!
We purposefully chose this hotel knowing it was our recovery day between tours after a super long night. There is something desirable about walking into a hotel that knows how to provide a service, a soft bed & good air-conditioning.
It was brilliant. Our room was ready & it wasn't even 9am. Hello shower & an extra long nananap.
There's a mall attached to the hotel for a quick bag pickup. We've changed our thinking on the upcoming week & are going to 'rough it' & downsize our stuff. Another benefit of staying here again later this week when we get back from the rainforest is we can leave everything else here.
This is the pool. It's happy hour. What more could one need?
