Tight Squeeze

Another scorcher tday so we had a wonderful day at Portavadie which began as always with a long road journey down loch Fyne to Tarbert , then a very pleasant sailing on the ferry from Tarbert to Portavadie. A wander round the Marina we saw one of the local business men ,advised that the meals at the Marina restuarant were very reasonable ( this from a multi millionaire). he was right the meals were very reasonably priced, lovely sea food and plenty of it. Great service, everyone very helpful. definitely recommend this place if you are ever over there.

We had a great view from our balcony table, all the way across the marina with a view of Arran as well. Added to this we watched a wedding ceremony on one of the luxury yachts , beautiful bride but were spellbound by one of the guests who decided to get a better view of the proceedings and teetered along the pontoon walkway on hels so high she was in grave danger of toppling into the water, particulalrly when she backed so close to the edge. I have a feeling my dear hubby was juts a a tad disappointed that she didn't fall in . What a nast sense of humour.

Anyway after a wander along one of the forest walks we returne to Tarbert to be met by not one but three extra large farm vehicles being pulled by massive tractors. The driver told us they had travelled across the Islay ferry to Kennacraig and then driven all the way from there to the Tarbert ferry. They were heading to the Isle of Bute which involved a fery trip from tarbert to Portavadie , then from Colantraive to Bute. Unfortunately only this vehicle managed to get on , the other two having to wait until tomorrow morning.Still amazed that they squeezed this one on.
