Spend a penny?
Some of you may remember a few weeks ago (see blip 26th February) I bought some mosaic mesh.
This is my finished tile! We still need to silicone the bottom edge
As the new loo has a basin, we needed a splash back and I had the idea to use old pennies (since I had a piggybank full of them). A couple of Google how to's later and I had the basics of how to approach it.
It was really quite easy to do and used a total of 306 pennies (some had to be cut in half to make a straight edge)....bargain!
We had said to do a random placement of coins, and although I started to do this, my OCD just couldn't let me finish. So the final result is alternate rows of heads and tails.
I had a great time shining them all up, then Mr A lacquered them to prevent them tarnishing again.
The other accessories are copper too (although it's a chrome tap) and we've custom made the towel rail and loo roll holder, just to make it a little different, so the pennies fit in well, and I liked the idea of 'spending a penny'!
I may blip the before & after tomorrow :-)
