Solar eclipse today!

Today we marked the solar eclipse in Middle and Senior school. As looking at a solar eclipse directly might cause permanent eye damage, Class 7 made several pinhole projectors in Science to safely look at a projection of the solar eclipse. All morning we were eagerly awaiting the Sun to break through the clouds, but for a long time it looked like we had to watch the eclipse via a live stream on the internet.

However, just before break time the clouds often became thin enough to see the sun, but thick enough to not damage our eyes. If the rays became to bright the big box pinhole projectors worked great. All in all a great experience for students and teachers alike. If you have missed this eclipse in Belgium, there will be another partial solar eclipse in 2026. If you want to see a full solar eclipse in Belgium you will have to wait until 2090!
