The dragonfly dance

A picnic and a walk in Eglinton park again today, and this time with my sister joined us. As I don't get to see her often, this added to the fun of the afternoon.

What a scorcher today...

We took a walk round the small lake and ventured onto the wooden walkway along by the reed beds, in the hope of seeing some dragonflies. First my sister spotted one, then it turned in to a dragonfly fest.

They really are rather flighty! A bit of a challenge for my compact camera, but I'm still chuffed to bits with this shot. I'd been hoping to capture one of the bright blue ones, but they seemed even more restless than the red ones.
