Asteroids
On our way to Cape Douglas via the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) with two days at sea before we get there. Attended a lecture on asteroids which looked at previous asteroid impact and the potential for devastating asteroid impact on earth. The Blip was taken about 15 minutes before the lecture started – it was fairly full when it started.
Following this lecture we had a briefing from the GBR Pilot about the Great Barrier Reef and his role in the ship’s transition of it – very interesting.
Just had a message from the captain re typhoon Nathan, which is heading towards Port Douglas, and it appears it will hit there about 24 hours before we reach Ports Douglas. If we stop at Port Douglas it will depend upon on the sea conditions, we are due to be tendered from ship to shore, and if any damage has been caused to the infrastructure in or around Ports Douglas.
Very warm day and the sea is like a mill pond. We enter the GBR tomorrow morning at 6am.
