Perfect day for a bike ride

Today started like a comedy sketch. After breakfast Munchkin 1 disappears for a shower, Little Miss E  tries to put on her Elsa dress and I was making a cuppa. Then....."muuuuuummmm, MUUUUUUUMMMMMM! " from upstairs. Then " heeeelp me".  Pooh or a word to that effect I say to myself. So I run upstairs and there is my son standing in a pool if water while holding on to the tap saying "the top came off".

As any super mum will know, you have to assess the situation in a panicky calm manner, say what on earth did you do! what happened? Then try to fix it.

This is where it all went wrong. I took over from holding the tap on, tried to reconnect (as that's what I'd do when I wear my plumbers hat at school). Epic fail. Water spouts out and up up up when I remove it. Oh pooh! (Internally the word was much more explicit!)

Then ensued the do not show any panic panic. Towels and lots of them were needed as my son resumed holding the top of the tap in place while I struggled with the stop cock to shut off the water downstairs. It took an absolute age. The pressure eased a little so that we could safely leave tap top off leaving a lovely fountain going up and down plug hole.
Stuff it I said. I'll have to leave it. My son needed to get to school and I had his school production to watch this morning. I couldn't wait in for the landlord to fix it!

But hey the sun was shining, the production was fab, he looked great as Sherlock Holmes, all lines remembered and Little Miss E sat quietly for an hour and a half watching.

On our return home while we waited for the plumber (I called landlord at school) we went for a cycle round the big quiet roads on our patch. Little Miss E opted to continue wearing her tutu skirt while I stuck with trousers!

Plumber didn't turn up until 4 and fixed it just in time for me to get my son to his piano lesson. All good.

And now after over an hour of English comprehension homework, (distressed vowels and homophones) I'm relaxing with the Walking Dead.
